10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life
11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships bringing her food from afar. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Verse 27
In verse 27 we see that she is well aware of what goes on in her home. Even though she is a very busy
and hardworking woman she knows what’s going on inside of her household. She knows who has ball practice
and what time, she is probably also the one driving them there and home. She knows where her children are
and where her husband is. Because they have spent quality time together and have a strong relationship.
One of the ways this can be addressed is at dinner time or whatever mealtime everyone is available because
this will not look the same in every household. Again take time to find out how their day was. What good
things happened today or what negative things happened today? Doing this WILL help build a strong
relationship with your children and they are never too young to start this. They are also
never too old to start this. If you aren’t doing this I beg you start NOW. It may not be easy at first but
it will so be worth it. Another thing if you have teenage children and they have cell phones have them
leave them in their rooms or away from the table so they are not distracted from the moment.
This is one of the things I am really working on, my phone is on me at all times.
And I don’t even know why because I really don’t even like my phone but I have gotten so used to it
being a part of my everyday wardrobe that I feel like something is missing without it. So I have been
leaving my phone away from the table. I leave it in the living room or even on the counter
(now sometimes I so forget and it is in my pocket) But my phone is NOT important in that moment my
husband and my children deserve my undivided attention just as later in life I will require theirs.
But anyway these conversation at the table are a perfect way to find out who is struggling with
what or what they have accomplished that day and it really is necessary for us as mothers to know
what is going and what they are going through. Our culture is so busy and distracted these days that
we have to take time to slow down and focus on our family.
When the proverbs 31 woman took time for her self she didn’t allow her eyes to wander away from God.
We need to spend our time wisely. What are we reading, watching on tv, what are we discussing with our
friends, what songs are we listening too? I’m telling you right now if listen to a lot of music, find a Christian
radio station! I can not even begin to explain what this does for me. I can become so frustrated or irritated
and hop in the car and I hear “You are beautiful my sweet sweet song.....” and at that moment realize I am
not focusing on God I am focusing on worldly things and that will get me no where. My radio is never
on a secular station, if you get in my car you will hear life 88.5. I NEED that, that keeps me going that keeps
my eyes and my heart focused on God and I am in the car A LOT and God speaks to me through so many songs.
Same goes with the television be so very careful what you watch, our minds can so quickly be distracted.
I very rarely watch TV, I just feel like there is nothing worth watching. We actually moved our living room to
the basement and I love it because I don’t have to hear what just seems like pointless noise to me and again
it gives me a chance to listen to postive music instead.
Luke 6:45 says The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart the mouth speaks.
I don't know about you but I want good things overflowing from my heart out of my mouth daily.
One time when I was a teenager.... I am not sure my parents know this but....
I took all my secular cds out to my dads garage and broke every single one. To me this was
what was going in but not what I wanted to come out. Never once did I miss any of those cds. Never once did
I repurchase and of those cds, honestly I can’t even tell you what cds they were. But it was very important to
me to do this and I really felt like a weight was lifted afterwards. Now I’m not asking to go home and break all
your cd’s or throw away your movies but please be conscious about what you are watching and listening to
and be aware of how it effects your life and more importantly your children’s lives. So that kind of went in a
little different direction than I planned but in other words be careful in your down time and keep your eyes
focused on God in your times of rest and not on worldly things. I promise you, your family, your kids, other
peoples kids and your friends ARE watching YOU. What kind of witness are you being to them?
Love to you all and remember
Give grace, Live grace and Love gracefully
