First of all I want to say thank you to everyone who is reading this blog, I don't know who you all are but I am praying that God is blessing each and everyone of you in someway.
10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life
13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships bringing her food from afar. Those are the verses that we have looked at the last couple of weeks and here are the next two.
15 She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
Verse 15 & 16
Now the first part of this verse says “She gets up while it’s still dark...” Oh boy that’s a tough one for me!
I stay up really late and do my editing while the kids are in bed and I don’t have any running to do.
By late I mean midnight to 2 in the morning most nights. I don’t know what I would do if I had to get a
“real job” again, I would be a mess. Now it is easy for me get up and get the kids ready and take them to
school but then I come back home and go right back to bed. My day typically doesn’t really get going until
about 10:00am. So this is a really big struggle for me, we get in these habits and it’s really hard to break them
and sometime I get myself on more of a normal schedule but I always slowly drift back to my really late nights.
Now these situations are different for everyone, you know if you’ve recently had a baby your sleep schedule
will revolve around the baby and you will probably need to sleep in in the morning or whenever the baby is sleeping.
But what we are really looking at here is this woman rises and gets her house ready for daily tasks
and responsibility. This is also the perfect time to spend time with God if you are up early before anyone
else and before any distractions of the day have emerged you can take this time for your daily devotion
and or prayer time with God to prepare you for the day ahead.
Starting out with God also helps you with strength and to keep a focus on him throughout the day.
I don’t know about you but I have to charge my cell phone daily because if I don’t the power goes dead.
It’s the same way with God’s word, we need to plug in daily so we are recharged with His words and strength.
Reading God’s word everyday will change the course of our entire lives. Let me repeat that.....
Reading God’s word everyday WILL change the course of our entire lives!
Next we are talking about food again it is obviously very important to provide food for our families.
And again this woman seeks out good food and nutrition for them.
Now trust me I know this isn’t always easy,
I have a VERY picky 5 year old who would LOVE to only eat chicken nuggets and pizza rolls however it is VERY
important for me to get him to try new things and not to not give in to letting him have only what he wants.
We have recently figured out that he doesn’t like his food to touch or to be mixed up so if I can I will separate
things for him to an extent but he is required to try at least one bite of the meal the same way everyone else
is eating it. Like I said it is important that he tries those things for his own health and since our taste buds
change sometimes he will start eating that he didn’t like before. We have to be willing to provide the food
and nutrition that our families need it is our responsibility to our families and to God. Not only are we
providing the food but meal times are a great time to fellowship with our husbands and our children. I have
SO many memories of sitting at the dinner table talking about my day. Sometimes I can’t believe that my
parents asked me day after day how my day was. Because then they got stuck there for what seemed like
hours now that I look back on it. But those memories mean SO much to me and I felt like my parents really
cared about what I had say and about what was going on in my daily life.
I want that same thing for my children and meal time is one time that we are sitting in the same area
for more than 5 minutes. I challenge you to take that time to first of all make sure you eat at the table together,
pray together and ask your children how their day was. You will be blessed and they will know you care.
Portions for her servant girls meaning The servants job was to care for the family but a wife and mother’s job
is make sure that everyone is getting their needs met.
Verse 16 says..... She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
Well what do we see out of that verse? The first thing we see is that she considers it she doesn’t rationally
buy it she takes the time to think about it and prays about it. She is wise with her money. Then after she buys
it what does she do with it? It doesn’t just sit there so she can look at it, she works in it. She takes her earnings
and plants a vineyard. This woman is a hard worker isn’t she? Sometimes it’s hard to make wise choices when
we make purchases I don’t know about you but sometimes I see this cute little outfit and I HAVE to get it but
does Tori really need it? NO and I have horrible buyers remorse I will carry the things through walmart or
wherever and by the time I’m ready to checkout I have talked myself out of most if not all of the things that
I didn’t need to begin with. Sometimes I even purchase things and take them back because I didn’t really need
them. We are called to be wise and responsible with our money and this also includes our tithing
and giving our money back to God and being thankful for having it to begin with.
Malachi 3:8-12 says
8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.“But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’
“In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.
2 Corinthians 9:7 says
7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
We must be responsible with our money and tithe to further the kingdom of God through His work and His
people and His church. If you don't have a church home I have one that I could recommend.
As you reflect this week take time to prepare your house and your heart for the daily, weekly and monthly tasks ahead. Spend time with your children and your husband asking how their day was and earnestly listening. Start reading God's word daily, if not daily then weekly, if you don't read it at all then just start reading it! You will truly be amazed at the things that God reveals before your eyes and how they manifest and become evident in your heart, and soul.
Looking forward to comments and questions on Thursday!
Love to you all and remember, Give grace, Live grace and Love gracefully
